  • The gift forms are for the convenience of Pennsylvania residents only. Hughesville Area Public Library is granted 501(c) (3) status by the Internal Revenue Service and is an institution of purely public charity located in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

 Hughesville Area Public Library Facts

  • Library established in 1941.
     

  • Relocated to Main Street building in 1976 with 7,000 volumes.
     
  • By 2000, library holdings more than doubled to 16,000 volumes.
     
  • A feasibility study in 2000 identified several structural deficiencies that ruled out renovation of current building.
     
  • Library Building Committee formed in 2000 and purchased land in 2002.
     
  • A 2003 library consultant’s study recommended a new library building with almost double the space to allow for 20-year growth.
     
  • New library completed June 2006.

      This project is supported, in part, through a contract with the Office of Commonwealth Libraries, Department    of Education, with funds provided from the Keystone Recreation, Park, and Conservation fund
